The ramblings of a bearded crazy person

Where have all the comics gone…

“Dude, where’s my comics?”

Huh. Not only am I horribly late, I seem to have run out of suitable comics for my column here. Fancy that. Oh well, I imagine it was bound to happen sooner or later…

So… In lieu of more comics, I’ll post a single strip that may contain some wisdom…

Heh.

Epic Anime!

Musical Epic-Anime Mix

Here we go, an AMV that uses a whole bunch of different anime. I don’t even recognize half of them.

The song is really great. It has a habit of getting stuck in my head. (And I mean that in a good way.)

Quentyn Quinn – Space Ranger!

The last comic from RH Junior. FINALLY.

Quentyn Quinn, Space Ranger is about a descendant of the other Quentyn Quinn, Questor of Freeman Downs.

The Racconans have ventured out into space, and Quentyn is a Space Ranger. Space Rangers are:

Brave warriors, explorers, frontier lawmen who push the boundaries of civilization and justice out across the stars every single day.

In the opening sequence, I am very much reminded of Spaceman Spiff. (Except his spaceship was red.) I would be not at all surprised if RH Junior was a Calvin and Hobbes fan. (It’s one of the greatest comic strips ever. Whad’ya expect?)

There are, as I write this, exactly ten strips in the archive. That’s because instead of just making the strip and putting it up, the author makes three new pages every time he collects $500 in donations. So if you’ve got the cash, why not help the guy out?

Foist.

Still Alive – Hatsune Miku

Still Alive – Hatsune Miku Ver

If you know me at all, then you know I’m a big fan of the game Portal. Including the awesome credits song that everyone who’s anyone on the Internet should have heard at least once.

You may also remember, that in my post on Ievan Polkka, that I am also quite a big fan of Hatsune Miku.

So what happens when you have my favorite singer, sing my favorite song? In wonderful Engrish? Awesomeness, that’s what.

And if you ask nicely, she’ll also sing it in Japanese for you. I can’t decide which version I like better, though…

Fellowship of Heroes

Another RHJunior comic. Surprise surprise.

Fellowship of Heroes is about a guy who suddenly gains superpowers. In a world where the superheroes of old have gone away, and their replacements… Kinda are morons. The old heroes were all about truth, justice, and virtue, and the newbies are liars, cowards, frauds, and hypocrites.

So feeling depressed after helping a friend research a thesis paper about supers, Chris is walking home in pouring rain, and helps out someone whose car went kaput. Little did anyone know what was about to happen…

It’s a real serialized story this time, so here’s the beginning.

FTL: You’re assuming they make TV that doesn’t.

A Bit Hyper, No?

Kingdom Hearts 2: A bit hyber, no?

It’s Kingdom Hearts, and that classic song… The Hamster Dance. You either love it or hate it. (I love it.)

What makes this video really special though, is that it was made some time ago by KoolGool, one of the members of the CQFF. (He hasn’t been seen for quite a while, though. I bet all the New Guyz don’t even know who he is.)

Camp Calomine

Oh look. Another one from RH Junior. Who’d have thought…

Camp Calomine is about a camp counselor who works among a bunch of people who don’t know the first thing about real camping. They spend most of their time eating tofu dogs, and teaching about global warming. Eh… But Charles keeps his kids occupied with real camping stuff.

First.

Team Fortress 2 – Epic Win

I just had the most epic round of Team Fortress 2 EVER. Seriously. My little post here will never be able to fully describe how totally awesome it was to witness it firsthand.

We were playing Dustbowl, and I was a BLU Medic. Not much of interest happened on the first two sections of the map, but as soon as we started the third section, things heated up immensely. We were having a lot of trouble breaking through to the first point. But eventually, our Demomen managed to take out the sentries, and we advanced down the hallway.

My brother (Super Searcher) set up his sentry in his favorite spot, covering the exit from the sewers, and I busied myself healing guys at the last corner before the RED base. I built up Uber after Uber, on Demomen, Soldiers, Pyros, anything. But nothing could put a dent in RED’s defenses. They had three Engineers, all with fully upgraded sentries. Demomen had carpets of stickies all over the point. So even when they were Ubered, our guys couldn’t get anywhere near their stuff for a long time.

We went on like that for over ten minutes, but eventually, their defenses started to crack. Their sentries went down, but we only had a minute left on the clock. We pushed forward, swarming the point before RED could put their shields back up. My Uber ran out, so I pulled out my saw, and started hewing away at anyone who got close enough. Ten seconds left on the clock. RED still doesn’t want to give up.

Five seconds left. Four. Three. Two. One. The point is still partially captured, so we go into overtime. The REDs are now starting to reappear from their spawn, desperate to evict us from their territory. I kill a Soldier with my saw, expecting death at any second. But what’s this? Our Pyros are spewing flames in the RED doors, keeping them busy, so they don’t immediately come down to the point. The last RED team member who was still standing on the point falls… DING! The Announcer, in her satisfied tone, declares: “Victory.” The fanfare plays as the few BLU survivors finish off the last of the REDs.

I laughed so hard after that, and congratulated the BLU team for that epicly awesome final push, and the RED team, for putting up such an awesome defense and having it hold so long. You all were great. :)

Or as the Soldier would say: “Every one of you deserves a medal!”

Monkey vs. Robot

Monkey vs. Robot

Here we have one of the most epic videos ever. An eternal battle between Monkey and Robot. Nature and technology… Who will win? Who knows…

Still, it can’t be said that this lacks awesome.

Tallyho!

Whoops, a day late again. Ah well, Merry Christmas!

Today’s lineup includes Tallyho, yet another comic by the Tales of the Questor guy. There’s a fox, a basset hound, and an evil, insane kid. The fox loves fried chicken in a bucket, the hound is British, and the evil, insane kid is, well… Evil and insane.

I don’t think I can call it serialized, but there’s a few arcs in there. One particularly funny one should be Teh Lulz for people familiar with stuff on The Internetz.
