The ramblings of a bearded crazy person

Who Was U.N. Owen?

It’s been a while since I did a big music bash here. And since Halloween is this weekend, I thought I would dedicate this post entirely to remixes of what may be the most remixed song in history:

Flandre Scarlet’s theme from Touhou.

U.N. Owen Was Her?

That was the original song as it appeared in Touhou 6: Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. Remixes galore after the break. (This will be by no means a complete list, it’s just a few of my favorites. There’s still more mixes that I also like, though. I really had trouble deciding which ones were going into the post here.) Read More

Usonakisuto

I noticed a lack of Mont Blanc in the top 30 this week. But that can’t be right. I’ll go watch the ranking again; I probably missed it…

This is Team Fortress 2

This is cool. I always like stuff like this.

Millenia

Proness.

Apparently there’s talk about Miku getting an English version. Which would Vocarock.

Innocent Wind

Innocent Wind by WAVE // Aya Shameimaru’s theme

Out of all the character themes in Touhou, Aya’s theme from PoFV/StB is my favorite. The original song by ZUN is just so fun-sounding, rather whimsical, and it fits Aya the Reporter perfectly. I like it better than her theme from MoF, which represents Aya the Tengu, rather than Aya the Reporter. (Though her Tengu theme is also very good!)

And this is the best gosh-darn remix of her theme EVER. PERIOD. WAVE took her theme, and made it absolutely EPIC. As you already know if you’ve read my stuff, I have a particular fondness for violins. So my favorite theme, plus epic violins, and you get the idea. If I had to write a list of my ten favorite songs, this would be on there.

Yay Iroha! And Miki.

There were a few Miki songs this week, actually…

Within the Fissure

Alas, the time has come again to wrap up another season of Xbolt’s Anime Reviews by posting a few words about all the openings.

Ghost in the Shell – I don’t really know what to say about this… It’s… Enchanting.

Full Metal Panic! (Fumoffu? and TSR) – Not too bad. Of the three, I like the first one the best.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time – Very nice. Very VERY nice.

Serial Experiments Lain – That one line at the beginning is what makes this not awesome, but AWESOME.

Macross Frontier (OP1, OP2, OP3) – I couldn’t find a video of the actual OP1. So you get just the song.

Angel Beats! (Normal and Special) – The normal one is a very nice piano piece, and Yui’s special guitar version is very good too.

Bakemonogatari (OP1, OP2, OP3, OP4, OP5) – Many OPs, for the different girls. My favorite is Tsubasa’s. By far.

Valkyria Chronicles (OP1 and OP2) – I can’t decide which is better, really…

Blackā˜…Rock Shooter – Pure. Liquid. Awesome.

Cromartie High School – XD

Record of Lodoss War – Not too shabby. That 90’s style has a certain charm to it.

Interstella 5555 – It’s Daft Punk. I shouldn’t have to say anything else.

Summer Wars – Epic. Epic. And… EPIC.

Paranoia Agent – Creepy.

Touhou Project Side Story – It’s alright…

Paprika – The song, combined with the animation, lets you know that you’re in for a treat when you watch this film. This is one of my favorite openings.

Evangelion (1.0, 2.0) – Beautiful, to put it simply. I really like the guitar in the second one. I can’t decide which version I like better, though… I go back and forth.

K-ON!! (OP1, OP2) – Just a bit too fast. I liked the first season’s OP more.

This is where our paths must part. Perhaps we’ll meet again someday. You know where to find me…

Press “J” to Scream TAAAAAAAAANK!!!

“The Sacrifice” Teaser

If all goes according to plan, The Sacrifice will be out later today. And I’ll be playing it.

I bet I could take on all three of those things. Everyone who’s played with me knows how great I am at taking down Tanks.

Last Song

Well I sure hope this isn’t the last song. I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t have any more songs to write about!

This sounds very nice, regardless. I like what fatmanP did with Luka’s voice.

I was really hoping for Rise & Set to appear in the ranking this week. Sadly, it was nowhere to be found. Too bad, it’s a great song.
