Spring is Nowhere

Yuyuko’s Theme – Border of Life

It’s been the coldest winter I’ve had in a while, with temperatures far below what they should be. I blame Yuyuko.

Yuyuko is a really interesting character. To quote cjn1414118 from YouTube: (People who leave comments on YouTube that are actually fun and informative? What is this?)

I find it weird that the plot of PCB can be viewed as so deep and so childish at the same time. I mean, Yuyuko is the princess of the dead who is trying to steal all of spring from Gensokyo, leaving them in eternal winter. She does this to revive the dangerous Youkai tree in the Netherworld, thant would, once revived, possibly destroy everything in sight.

…But her motive is still pretty much: “Ooooooh, what does THIS button do!?”

When I first heard it, I didn’t think much of Yuyuko’s theme. But then I started to realize how bloody epic it sounds. A few remixes after the break.

WAVE – 亡我郷、反魂蝶、その華開花すること能わず

Latin chanting makes even already epic things more epic.

EastNewSound is always great for beautiful songs.

Halozy – 素晴らしい’0′

This one has been playing on repeat for the last month. I very much love the vocals here. And the instruments are good too. But the vocals are, IMO, what takes this from being ‘good’ to ‘great’.

CYTOKINE – Across the Border of Life

I like CYTOKINE’s arrange a lot. This was the first Border of Life arrange that I really listened to, and it’s actually what triggered me into falling in love with the theme.

But I’m having a hard time deciding which of these arranges is my favorite… Let’s just say all of them and be done with it.
